Beta install guide
Install the extension.
Beta install uses a zip file. Download it, unzip it to a permanent folder, then follow the steps below. The process takes about 60 seconds. You only do this once.
Download and unzip the extension
Download prayer-audio-controller-v1.0.2.zipUnzip the file to a permanent folder — for example, your Desktop or Documents folder.
Do not delete this folder after installing. Chrome loads the extension from it every time it starts. If you move or delete the folder, Chrome will disable the extension.
Open Chrome Extensions
In Chrome, open a new tab and go to:
chrome://extensions
Or use the Chrome menu → More tools → Extensions.
Enable Developer mode
In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, toggle Developer mode on. A toolbar will appear with three buttons: "Load unpacked", "Pack extension", and "Update".
Load the extension folder
Click Load unpacked. In the file picker that opens, navigate to and select the folder you unzipped in step 1 — select the folder itself, not a file inside it. The folder contains a file called manifest.json.
Prayer Audio Controller will appear in your extensions list.
Pin the extension
Click the puzzle-piece icon (🧩) in the Chrome toolbar. Find Prayer Audio Controller in the list and click the pin icon next to it. The extension icon will appear in your toolbar so you can open it quickly.
Sign in and set your location
Click the Prayer Audio Controller icon in your toolbar. Sign in with the same email address you used to create your account. After sign-in, allow location access or search for your city — the extension will use this to calculate prayer times and schedule mutes automatically.
You're set up.
The extension will mute Chrome at every prayer time and restore audio after. You can open the popup at any time to see the next mute, adjust settings, or change your location.
