# Install Prayer Audio Controller

## Requirements

- Chrome 114 or later (or a Chromium-based browser: Brave, Edge, Arc, Opera)
- A Prayer Audio Controller account (free 7-day trial, no card required)
- Desktop computer. Chrome on iOS and Android does not support extensions

## Installation steps

### Step 1: Add to Chrome
Open the Chrome Web Store listing and click "Add to Chrome". Confirm by clicking "Add extension" in the dialog that appears. The extension installs in seconds.

Also works on Brave, Edge, Arc, and Opera: they use their own extension stores or install directly from the Chrome Web Store.

### Step 2: Pin the extension
Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the top-right of Chrome. Find Prayer Audio Controller and click the pin icon. The extension appears in your toolbar.

### Step 3: Sign in
Click the Prayer Audio Controller icon in the toolbar to open the popup. Enter your email and tap "Send sign-in email": or use "Sign in with Google" for a one-click flow.

You will receive a magic link and a 6-digit code. Click the link or enter the code to complete sign-in. This starts your free 7-day trial. No card required.

### Step 4: Set your location
When prompted, allow location access so the extension can calculate accurate local prayer times. If you prefer not to share your GPS location, tap "Search city" and type your city name instead.

Prayer times are calculated on-device from your coordinates. Your location is never sent to Prayer Audio Controller servers.

### Step 5: Confirm the schedule
After location is set, the popup shows today's prayer schedule for your city. The next scheduled mute time appears at the top. You are ready. The extension runs automatically in the background.

## After installation

**Adjust timing:**
If your local mosque's call is consistently a few minutes earlier or later than the calculated time, open the popup and set a mute start offset (1-10 minutes early or late).

**Disable specific prayers:**
In the popup, tap the prayer chips in the "Mute for" row to toggle individual prayers on or off. The schedule display always shows all five times. The chips only control which ones trigger a mute.

**Change calculation method:**
If prayer times are noticeably off, change the calculation method in the popup settings. Use Diyanet for Turkey, ISNA for North America, Egyptian for Egypt, and so on.
